Since joining Clean Earth, one of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been gaining a deeper understanding of the waste and recycling industry. I’ve been able to take that knowledge beyond the workplace by educating friends, family, and members of my community — particularly about proper battery and electronics disposal, which many consumers are unfamiliar with. It’s meaningful to know that I’m making a positive impact, not only through my role at Clean Earth but also by helping others make more environmentally responsible choices.

How did your career start, and what has your work experience been?
I joined Clean Earth in March 2022 as an Operations Coordinator for our Allentown, PA facilities. Before this role, I accumulated over 20 years of diverse professional experience spanning multiple industries. Throughout my career, I have held a variety of positions, including management, payroll, administration, medical billing, sales, customer service, accounts payable/receivable, collections, human resources, legal support, medical assisting, marketing/web design, and procurement. In 2017, I became part of a three-person team that successfully launched a new business from the ground up. I played a key role in strategic decision-making during the business launch and oversaw the construction of the center. Additionally, I was responsible for hiring and managing a staff of 75+ team members and facility operations. This position really shaped my passion for helping businesses and people thrive and be successful. This extensive and varied background has given me a well-rounded skill set and a strong foundation in both operational and administrative functions, allowing me to adapt and excel in dynamic work environments.

Will you talk about your current role at Clean Earth?
My role at Clean Earth is diverse, which is what I enjoy. I support our Allentown sites by handling billing and invoicing functions, performing basic accounting, and tracking and auditing financial reports. In addition to financial responsibilities, I coordinate and conduct training sessions, support EH&S initiatives, perform asset tracking, and oversee inventory management and ordering, onboarding processes, and outbound logistics. I also play a role in maintaining organization and operational efficiency across our sites. Beyond my core responsibilities, I serve as the Allentown site ambassador, a senior ambassador, and a member of the Enviri Women resource committee. I also represent Clean Earth in Allentown through our involvement with the local Chamber of Commerce, helping to strengthen our community engagement and professional partnerships.

Are there any misconceptions people may have about your position?
Many people may not realize that my role encompasses responsibilities across multiple departments. I’m actively engaged in everything from financial reporting and logistics to training, compliance, and team support. My position is integrated into the day-to-day operations and overall success of our Allentown facilities.

How do you enjoy your time outside of work?
Outside of work, I cherish spending time with my husband, children, and close friends and family. Recently, much of our family time has been focused on relaxing together — watching movies, playing games, and creating meaningful moments. Since my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in June of last year, our lives have shifted significantly, and these moments have become even more precious. Some of my personal interests and hobbies include tennis, swimming, art, and music, which provide me with balance and creative fulfillment. I also run my own photography business and enjoy attending concerts.

How do you empower other women in our industry? What advice do you want to share?
Through my involvement with the Enviri Women resource committee and my role as a senior ambassador, I have had the privilege of connecting with women across various roles within our company. These interactions have provided me with valuable insights and support, for which I am truly grateful. Looking back, what advice would you give yourself at the start of your career?
I would advise myself to always recognize my worth and have confidence in my abilities, embracing new challenges without fear of failure. Finding the right career path wasn’t always straightforward, but I’m grateful for the diverse roles and experiences that have shaped my professional journey. Looking back, I wouldn’t change much about my work experience, as each opportunity contributed to my growth and who I am today.

How should we encourage the younger generation of women to join the waste industry?
I believe it is essential to educate young women about the wide range of opportunities available in the waste industry and how they can make a meaningful impact through varied roles. By highlighting the industry’s importance to environmental sustainability and showcasing career paths that align with their interests and skills, we can inspire and empower the next generation to pursue rewarding careers in this field.
